viewing entry : Wettest day on record

05/09/2006 20:53 by Justin

On our 60th day awoke to heavy and persistent rain which has only just eased but not stopped. Opened tent door to biggest midge swarm i have ever seen. Pleasant morning. Climbed devils staircase into cloud base and wind/rain. On the up though turned 800 miles. Due in fort william tomorrow so finish the west highland and start great glen. Everything wet still and now right boot has developed a leak so worzel style plastic bags have to be employed. No picture today as too wet to get phone out.

Hi! great to see you at the Kings House, hope you enjoyed your orange. My meal gave me great energy for the Devils staircase. Didnt think it was too bad. I thought the descent into Kinlochleven was wicked tho! Hope you didnt get too wet on Tues!!! Got to say I was glad to crawl into my very own bed last night. The dog made it to the end but has lost enthusiasm for the sight of her lead, I dont expect it`ll last!
Go for it! Not long to go now, good luck with the rest of your trip X

Hi Dan, Well done on your journey so far - hope you don't come back with trench foot - the plastic bags sound very fetching!! Everyone says hi - they are pretty happy today because I've shared your secret stash of chocs with them. Not sure how I've managed to hold on to them for so long!!! Take care and see you soon.

There is nothing wrong with wearing plastic bags as long as they come from a good shop, make sure the logo is showing! You needn't worry though 'cos you'll have webbed feet soon and be impervious. Have found in a book a Potentilla erecta or "Tormentil" which looks like your blurry photo. Loads of love guys. xxxxxx
