Our first full day without rain for what seems forever. Managed to launder and dry some socks and finish in good time just outside jedburgh so got lick of polish on boots as well. Noticeably flatter with much more farming now we are over the cheviot hills. Lots more water which is good but also lots more midges. Got 27 bites just on my left foot. God Damn i must taste good. Have to wear socks with our flip flops which is strangely fetching. Picture is of cessford castle on augustines way.

glad the water situation has improved, even if the midges have not! It is good to see Cessford castle.. I read that the Kerrs built the spiral staircases in their pele towers anticlockwise as they were known for being lefthanded and this made it easier for them to fight off marauders!!!

Been to Cessford Castle with Trevor, Sally and kids - there's a blast from the past! Glad it's drier, sorry to hear you attract the midges; still, shows you've got pulling power! Keep smiling -

Nice castle boys. Built in 1450 by the kerr family(who still own it). Was over-run and burnt by the English in 1546, so its time to put on your scottish accent or 'ya be in for a wee beating'.
